Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 reveal happening this week
Original: When will Nintendo reveal Switch 2? Apparently that could be happening this week.
During the latest Nate the Hate podcast, it was claimed that an announcement is happening on January 16, this Thursday. Host Nate the Hate said:
“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now. I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”
During the podcast, it was also mentioned that Nintendo will follow up with an event focusing on games in late February or early March. Further speculation points to a possible May or June launch for the console.
Last week, Nate the Hate made a few claims regarding Nintendo Switch 2 third-party games. Along with Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, it was also stated that Xbox is gearing up for big support, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Thus far, Nintendo has only confirmed that it will make a Switch 2 announcement by the end be of the fiscal year, which concludes in March.
Update: Multiple outlets are backing up this report, including The Verge’s Tom Warren and Eurogamer. Stay tuned.
