GameCube Nintendo Switch Online rumor

According to a claim from NateTheHate, Nintendo Switch Online will be adding GameCube games at some point.

That information was shared in a new podcast published today. He said that he’s heard about Nintendo’s plans to bring GameCube support to Nintendo Switch Online, which is “a question of when, not if.” While not fully committing to that news being shared during tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, it’s apparently “very likely”.

NateTheHate is known for breaking the date of the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. He was also spot on about a Nintendo Direct last week before it was confirmed.

Nintendo Switch Online started out with just NES support in 2019. The following year, we saw the addition of SNES titles. At the end of 2021, the Expansion Pack tier was introduced with N64 and SEGA Genesis games. The most recent update was with Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and GBA support in 2023.
