Rumor: Nintendo working on project with codename “U-King-O”, possible new version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Midori, a leaker known for correctly predicting numerous tidbits of information regarding Atlus and SEGA games, has come forward with a new claim that Nintendo is working on a project with the codename U-King-O – which could possibly be a port of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s codename is U-King, which means it can be reasonably assumed that this project refers to a port for Nintendo’s next console. It’s also safe to assume that this port would come with improvements; a higher resolution and frame rate would be nearly guaranteed if this were the case.
That being said, it’s unclear if this project is a completely different version of Breath of the Wild that would need to be re-purchased or if Nintendo would offer the option to pay a smaller fee to upgrade the game and save you already own. While this technically could be a completely separate game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’s code name is Century, meaning that if the project is real it is almost certainly a Breath of the Wild port.
It was previously claimed that during Gamescom last August, Nintendo was showing off Breath of the Wild for its new console. Technical improvements – again, for frame rate and resolution – were the primary highlights of that demo. However, there was nothing to indicate at the time that this was planned for full release.
Though the leak isn’t confirmed by any means, the credible insider Pyoro also appears to be on board with Midori’s claim. The Switch 2’s code name is apparently Ounce, which explains the O tacked on to the end of Breath of the Wild’s code name. This is another in a series of recent Switch 2 leaks, including its potential release date, specs, and more.
