September 30: Nintendo has come out with another Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury update, with the game moving up to version 1.2.2.
Nintendo can often be cryptic with its patches, and that’s once again the case here. Issues have been fixed – but these are unspecified.
The full notice is as follows:
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury version 1.2.2 update patch notes
General
- Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.
This follows the version 1.2.1 update that came out back in July. With that patch, Nintendo was looking to fix some issues that users encountered when playing on Switch 2. You can find our full coverage on that here.
Meanwhile, alongside the launch of Switch 2, Nintendo prepared a much bigger update at the time. Version 1.2.0 offered higher resolution, improved frame rate, HDR support, and GameShare for the new console. You can catch up on that update as well as other free patches Nintendo released at the time here.
October 3: We have a few more details about this new update. First, version 1.2.2 fixes a security flaw (heap overflow) in the game’s save file handling code. Additionally, debug data has been removed that was accidentally included in the retail version. Those wondering about that debug data can check out this page.
