Switch has hit a big milestone, as the console is now five years old. The same also goes for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as the two launched together.
Switch originally released on March 3, 2017. It’ll soon be March 3 everywhere, but it’s already that date in some parts in the world – Japan in particular.
It’s been a wild five years for Nintendo as Switch has been one of the company’s most successful products of all time. Just last month, we heard that it had surpassed 100 million units, outselling the Wii and original PlayStation.
Even though we’re five years in, the future is still looking very bright for Switch. Some heavy hitters are on the way this year for the console. We already saw Pokemon Legends: Arceus at the end of January, and we’ll be getting more big titles in the months to come. Triangle Strategy, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Nintendo Switch Sports, Mario Strikers: Battle League, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Splatoon 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 are among the titles planned for this year – at least at the moment.
Happy birthday, Nintendo Switch!
