Switch’s Nintendo Switch Online app gets visual overhaul in time for Switch 2
Following the Nintendo Switch 20.1.0 system update, the Nintendo Switch Online application on Switch has been massively updated as well. The changes to the user interface were not detailed in the patch notes for the system update, but match the previously reported images of the Switch 2’s online app.
Here are all the changes we could find:
- App now matches to the set system theme
- Faster loading and response time
- Overall sound effect changes
- User profile icon has matching background color
- Various tab icons changed
- NES, Super NES, Gameboy, Nintendo 64, and Gameboy Advance tab now titled Nintendo Classics
- Nintendo Classics tab now includes Nintendo Gamecube games
- Special offers tab includes new Nintendo Gamecube controller
- Missions and rewards tab moved up
With themes now matching between the system and application, this could be a sign that Nintendo is looking to generally utilize themes more. One thing is for certain, the next generation of Nintendo is bringing a lot of changes to the original Switch. To stay up to date with everything the Switch still has in store, you can click here.
