Take-Two talks Nintendo Switch 2, indicates it will support the console
Take-Two reported its financial results today, and during a call with investors, the company commented on potential support for Nintendo Switch 2.
CEO Strauss Zelnick shared a few words here. First, he brought up Take-Two’s “longstanding relationship with Nintendo”. Also mentioned is how now with Switch and Switch 2, these consoles “can support any audience” whereas the publisher didn’t always feel that way about some previous Nintendo platforms. Zelnick seemed shy to bring up any specific plans, but based on his comments, it sounds like we can count on games to follow in the future.
Zelnick’s full comments regarding Nintendo Switch 2 are as follows:
“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Nintendo and we’ve supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release. There was a time when Nintendo platforms were really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. Now with today Switch and potentially Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience. As you may have noticed, Civilization 7 is now available on Switch. While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch.”
Through its various subsidiaries, Take-Two has brought various games to Nintendo Switch over the years. These include Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, L.A. Noire, NBA 2K, Borderlands and BioShock titles, and more.
EA also commented on Nintendo Switch 2 this week and similar to Take-Two, spoke about the console in more board terms. However, it was suggested that we could see franchises like EA Sports FC and Madden NFL on the console. Read about that here.
