The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD tech analysis
After it first appeared on Wii a decade ago, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is back with a new HD version on Switch. Digital Foundry published a video today exploring how the game holds up from a technical perspective.
Below are the highlights:
– Some assets reworked
– UI completely redone
– Improved image quality
– 1080p docked
– Color dithering eliminated entirely
– Anti-aliasing not used, but shimmering kept to a minimum
– 720p in portable mode
– Improved textures on Switch with finer details
– Higher resolution shadows
– Faster loading on Switch
– Almost always 60 frames per second on Switch, which is double that of the Wii original
– Full surround sound audio support on Switch with proper rear channel usage
