Undertale creator Toby Fox has composed music tracks for Pokemon Scarlet / Violet
Original (6/1): Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, has confirmed that he composed a few music tracks for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
According to Fox, he was heavily involved with the field music. Once he made a concept sketch, “Game Freak arranged it into many versions that you’ll hear throughout the game.” Fans can actually get a small taste of Fox’s work as it was featured in the new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, available here.
Fox also confirmed that he contributed other music tracks for the upcoming Switch titles. However, he didn’t dive into specifics.
This isn’t the first time Fox has been involved with Pokemon. For Sword and Shield in 2019, he made the track for Battle Tower (read his message about that here). Not all players would listen to the music though as it’s more of an optional activity. Fox joked that for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, this time his music won’t be optional.
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will release for Switch on November 18, 2022.
Update (8/10): Fox has now confirmed that he composed the music for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s new Terastal Raid battles. Read his tweets about it below.
When I was first given this assignment, the game director, Ohmori-san, showed me a Lucario with a gigantic oversized crystal flower coming out of its head and told me it was the new game mechanic. Using this information as a blueprint, I created the song… Hope you enjoy! pic.twitter.com/Urvb1sJsRZ
