[Wii Send-Off] The Ten Best First-Party Wii Games

6. Metroid Prime Trilogy

If you package three of the greatest games of all time together, people are bound to add your game to some “top games” lists. That’s what happened with Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I’m absolutely not complaining. This limited release bundle included the original Metroid Prime, the second game Echoes, and the trilogy-ender Corruption, the former two of which were expertly refitted to the Wii’s IR control scheme and given a slight boost in graphical power courtesy of the Wii. Even though there’s nothing new here, it more than warrants a spot on this list just by virtue of how good the original games were!

5. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

While I personally consider this a Gamecube game, it’s no surprise that when reminiscing upon the Wii games for which we have the fondest memories, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess comes to mind very early. The game was pretty much shoddily ported over to the Wii from the console’s predecessor in 2006 (they didn’t even re-program it! they just mirrored the world!), and yet very few people seemed to mind. After all, even though the sword controls weren’t too great, IR pointing for shooting arrows and latching onto things with the double clawshot definitely can’t be beat, and it would be hard to live without it as the series progresses.

4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

The third game in a series of legendary fighters, Super Smash Bros. Brawl may not have been quite as well received by the core crowd as Melee but it made an awful lot of people happy solely because it had drastically more content than any of the series titles prior. This entry added several new faces, included two surprises in the form of Sonic and Solid Snake, as well as a level editor, new items, and some truly wonderful new stages.
