2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Before Super Mario Galaxy 2’s release, Mario hadn’t seem himself in a direct sequel since Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, which didn’t see release in the states until it hit Wii’s ‘Virtual Console’ in 2007, so when Nintendo made the announcement of this game at E3 2010 most people were quite shocked. Some skepticism was to be had, with critics voicing concerns that it would be more of a Mario Galaxy 1.5 than anything, and while that more or less turned out to be true, it actually garnered a more positive reception than its predecessor. Talk about a sequel done right!
