Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s latest update reportedly improves loading times, possibly Mario Odyssey as well
Earlier in the week, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was updated to version 1.6.0. As we know, the main highlight was the addition of Nintendo Labo VR Kit support. However, that apparently wasn’t all, as we’re hearing that performance was improved.
Entering Shrines appears to have received a noticeable improvement. Comparisons indicate that loading was reduced by as much as five seconds.
Below are a couple of comparisons:
Oh my. The update DID improve Shrine loading times, pog! pic.twitter.com/Mdr3onYudk

Shrine entry is also faster with the update, which makes sense. pic.twitter.com/KUq9tYtqgB

If that wasn’t enough, speedrunner Zant says that Breath of the Wild load times on Switch beat those on Wii U, and “there also seems to be noticeably less overworld lag when moving fast like with [bullet-time bounces].” For those that are unaware, bullet-time bounces are an exploit of sorts used by speedrunners to cover a lot of territory in the game.
You may recall that Super Mario Odyssey was also given a new update this week. Things aren’t quite as conclusive, but we’re hearing that load times in that title were improved as well.
