Zelda: Majora’s Mask cut microphone support discovered
It’s always interesting when something new is discovered about an older game, and it’s now been revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask contains microphone support.
This feature ultimately wasn’t used by Nintendo for the final product. However, it turns out that a few different commands are supported.
First, by saying “Hai Chiizu” (basically “Say Cheese”), a picture will be taken. When next to a cow, if you say “Miruku” (“Milk”), it will act as a substitute for playing Epona’s Song. Say “Atonanjikan” (“How many hours remain?”) next to a Gossip Stone and it will act as if you’ve hit it with your sword, telling you how much time is left before the moon crashes. There’s also Okirou (“Wake Up”), which lets you skip Sonata of Awakening and wakes scrubs up. Last but not least, if you say “Haiya” while riding Epona, it’ll be as if you pressed the A button and used a carrot to go faster. There’s also technically a sit command thought that it would be used with dogs, but it doesn’t interact with anything.
The microphone accessory VRS ended up being a bit of a waste. Only two games used it: Hey You Pikachu and Densha de Go 2.

Zelda: Majora’s Mask is currently available on Nintendo Switch Online. We’ve got coverage of that here.
