Zelda Tears of the Kingdom update 1.1.1

A new update has just been released for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with the game moving up to version 1.1.1.

This patch addresses a specific issue as well as some general ones that Nintendo didn’t go into detail about. Primarily, it’s about clearing the quest titled “The Closed Door”. Downloading version 1.1.1 will let players clear the quest if they came across the problem previously.

The full patch notes for the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom version 1.1.1 update are as follows:

General Updates

  • Fixed issue where, sometimes, the player could not clear main quest “The Closed Door,” even if they fulfilled the conditions to advance the quest.
    • If you have already encountered this issue, you will be able to clear the quest by downloading this update data.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

You may recall that the game previously received a 1.1.0 update just in time for launch. Nintendo’s patch notes mentioned how after installing the patch, horse name inputs now allow for Korean, Chinese (Simplified), and Chinese (Traditional) characters. However, many players reported improved performance after installing the update as well even though it wasn’t mentioned officially. You can find the official patch notes here.

All players on Switch can download the new version 1.1.1 update for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom now. The game itself can be purchased physically or digitally on Switch. Visit the official website here for more information.
