I was skeptical, but this looks very good!

  • Pepperkeet

    $40… LMAO no thanks

    • Frank Rodriguez

$40 isn’t bad for a relatively new game, specially for the Switch.

      • StrawhatEevee

Relatively new? It’s been out for months, got mediocre reviews, and is digital only.

        • BananaJama

Agreed there, Yooka-Laylee is as low as £9 on XB1/PS4 now, and that’s for the physical release too.
This port should have been £15 tops.

          • Indielink

The game still costs 40 digitally on those stores too.

since when is a metacritic score of 7,5 mediocre? sure its not mario odyssey but mediocre? no

          • Abu Schwarab

~6/10 user reviews on console, sub-7 critic reviews, according to Metacritic.

          • MarcelDG88

You do know that the reviews are before the massive patch from last summer and that the only version made by playtonic self are the pc version the (cancelled) wiiu version and the switch version. The ps4 and xbox one version where outsourced and made by team17.

Also user scores on metacritic? really? you mean the people who gave a game a 1 because they dont like the average number at that point in time?

          • Abu Schwarab

User reviews and critic reviews point spread is less than one, so doesn’t seem too outlandish a difference. Don’t care enough about the developers or the game to follow its development route, or whether there was outsourcing. Might have been something I picked up for my kids if there were a physical release, and it was ~$30. If I were going to pick up a 3d platformer that’s not first-party, I’d rather grab A Hat in Time.

“Mediocre” reviews only because every “professional” reviewer and their mom were hopping on the hate bandwagon.

  • TDude73

I have to say that Playtonic Games have done a great job of porting the PC original to the Nintendo Switch. Yooka-Laylee looks more like a true rendition to Banjo-Kazooie back in the Nintendo 64 era. Perfect!

  • Tlink7

I wonder how the Switch version will sell now all the hype is gone (…and is a late port… and more expensive)

    • Indielink

It’s the same price as the standard digital versions on PS4 and X1.

      • Tlink7

Oh yeah its digital-only. Derp. Did the Other Platforms have physical editions or am I just making everything up at this point?

        • Blackbishop

Yes, the other platforms have them and they cost less.

          • Tlink7

*sigh* watch the devs complain about it not selling well <.<

          • Blackbishop

            Let’s hope that’s not the case :).

        • Indielink

Other consoles did have physical versions. You are right there buddy.

  • Locky Mavo

So did they fix/improve the game or has nothing changed?

    • Konon Risk

Fix/Improve in terms of the SUMMER update? or what more did you want fixed?

    • Coonfoot

From what I heard, all the patches released for the other versions are there from the start.

  • Coonfoot

Totally double-dipping. And not just because I feel sorry for Playtonic.
