ARMS sold through 70% of its initial shipment in Japan
ARMS sold roughly 100,000 copies in its first three days on the Japanese market, based on the latest information from sales trackers. Dengeki and Media Create now share extra information about how the game did.
Dengeki’s data has ARMS selling through 70 percent of its initial shipment. It’s the third solid first week sales for a Switch game after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (355,000 first week, total 576,000) and Zelda: Breath of the Wild (204,000 first week, total 490,000).
10.5 percent of the Switch userbase bought ARMS, which actually isn’t too high. However, Dengeki would like to see how much that percentage number will increase when the killer title Splatoon 2 comes out on July 20.
As for Media Create, when compared to Splatoon as a brand new IP for Wii U in May 2015, it sold 145,000 in its first week, which was more than ARMS. However, you have to consider the userbase of both systems. Wii U sold 2,356,000 units when Splatoon launched while Switch was at around one million. Because of that, it can be said ARMS is off to a favorable start.
