Kamiko out now on the Japanese Switch eShop, can be played in English

Posted on April 12, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop

Following tonight’s Nintendo Direct, Kamiko released on the Japanese Switch eShop. Interestingly, full English is included. With Switch’s region free nature, you can download Kamiko on a US or European system and easily play the game.

I hope they do this more with games. I’m going to check out some gameplay to see if this is for me.

You can get the dragon quest heros demo from the japanese eshop. Its in japanese but i was able to figure out how to play ut.

      • Carlos

I played that as soon as it came out. I’m definitely buying it when it releases.

Region free for Switch was the best choice they have made in a long time

  • NeptuniasBeard

That’s pretty sexy. Gotta try it out when I get home

Meh. “easily” is subjective, unless you’re willing to buy pay vouchers.

      Negative Nancy much, Evan?

No, I don’t think so. Region locking is much more easily done when you are using physical media. Digital media requires payment up front, and if your credit card billing info doesn’t match the region your account is “in,” you won’t be able to add funds. So, people use sites like Play Asia for pay vouchers. It’s just a more convoluted method of getting around the limitations of the eShop.

        • I thought your region doesn’t need to match your credit card info? I’ve heard people using US credit cards for their JP account?

To everyone else though, vouchers/shop cards are a nice option, but I would also encourage people to buy them from places other than PlayAsia. They have some bad practices, and it’s better to support other sites that are more consumer-friendly. :’)

Unfortunately it does need to match. Nintendo didn’t want to make it THAT easy for us lol.

BTDubz, I got Bomberman the other day so… if you ever wanna get together for that, let me know. I need a reason to actually play the darn thing 🙂

          • Oh, interesting. More tedious, but interesting.

Yeah! I’ll be free Friday and part of Saturday, I’m totally up for some Bomberman!

          • NeptuniasBeard

Cool beans. This week I’m working on a paper, then I gotta head to work. So if you can spare like, an hour at 3pm or earlier on one of those days, that’d be great. If that doesn’t work for you, I should be more free the week after next.

          • Dang, you got a lot to do. But you can do it! Fighting! (9^o^)9
I can definitely slice out a slot of time around 3pm and earlier~. Yay! That will work perfectly for Friday. And maybe Saturday, depending on my shift.

Thanks for the support! Tbh I had all the time in the world, but you know how we procrastinators can get… if it ain’t at the last minute, I can’t get motivated -_-

Alright, send me a message whenever you work out a time. Looking forward to it ^_^

          • OMG, I feel it. I procrastinate so hard, I make myself sick. You can do it though. ;u;
            Alrighty, will do~!

  • Cool~! I didn’t know you could play in English! I won’t mind double-dipping if it’s localized.

  • MoYeung

The game itself lets you choose language: English, traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese and English.

    • Hidden Flare

Two englishes for a game in japan, makes sense. 😛

      • MoYeung

        Corrected

        • Hidden Flare

          Ha ok.

  • DeltaPeng

Interesting…if you’re actually buying stuff from a different region, do you need a separate Nintendo wallet (that is, the funds wouldn’t be shared from your standard 3ds/WiiU/Switch wallet, would it)?

    • Gemmol Lewis

no the wallet work the same all around……you add funds and then use it to get the game in any region…..

    • san Okameta

You need a different account with a different wallet with different currency in it with a credit card from that region. If you change the region the funds in your wallet will disappear into thin air.
