With the release of the New 2DS XL in Japan today there is also some bad news that comes with this. According to the product page on the official Japanese’s website, Nintendo announced they have ended production on the regular sized New Nintendo 3DS in Japan.

The new current lineup for the 3DS family still in production in Japan will now be New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, and New Nintendo 2DS.

  • I think in the near future their main DS line would be the new 2DS XL/LL and new 3DS XL/LL.

I checked the source. This article put that in error. The Nintendo 2DS should be there. Hopefully the editor sees this.

So much talking about continuing 3DS support, and then shut down production of best model.
    F**k Logic

It was not popular in Japan. Which is what the article fails to mention

Well New 2DS XL kinda took that spot.

Before people claim 3DS is completely dead like idiots, lets do some logical thinking first. The XL models are just a bit more money but equally more people buy the XL versions than the standard one, as proven by the Japan media create sales numbers.

Couple that with the fact even Japan hasn’t been making any new face plates beyond it’s first year of release. With the New 3DS XL and now the New 2DS XL coming out, I see little reason to keep the smaller version around that only increases production costs with little to gain in net profit.

Inevitable. The New 3DS sales have slowed dramatically ever since the release of the normal 2DS in 2016 in Japan.

Expect America and Europe to follow auit soon as well.

  • hi-chan!

Yeah 90% of the people buys the XL version anyways
