Nintendo Accounts add QR Code, check in at events and nab “exclusive My Nintendo member benefits”

Posted on December 26, 2016 by (@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News

The Nintendo Accounts website has been updated with a new page containing a QR code for registered members. By using it, you can “check in at select Nintendo events and locations.”

Now, what’s the purpose of this? “Checking in gives you access to exclusive My Nintendo member benefits that may be available,” Nintendo says. It’s worth noting that benefits will vary, and details will be shared in the future.

You can access your unique QR code here.

Sony does something similar, they reward users that watch streams and share content by giving away themes, exclusive demos, avatars, and even chances to win accesories. The only things I can see Nintendo giving away are lame themes and discounts for $5 games.

They’re giving away invitations to public Switch events.

For the Japanese Nintendo Switch event open to the public on January 14th and January 15th, you can check in using your QR code and get a chance to win a free Nintendo Switch! They’re giving away 20 Nintendo Switch consoles, 10 per day, by drawing. It says that people from overseas who attend the event are also eligible, but the Nintendo Switch consoles they’re giving away will only ship within Japan, so you’ll need to provide a Japanese address if you do win one.

They will also be holding game music concerts throughout the day on both days. People attending the event have a chance of being able to attend the concerts.
