Nintendo Everything turns 10

Posted on October 23, 2017 by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates

I can hardly believe that I’m writing this, but Nintendo Everything is now ten years old. We first opened our doors way back on October 23, 2007. 10 years is a long time to be doing anything. In the age of the internet especially, it practically feels like we’re a dinosaur at this point.

When you’ve been involved with something for ten years, tons of memories come to mind. One early memory that really sticks out is when I was taking driving lessons with a friend many, many years ago. After one of our lessons was over, my friend’s mother was driving us back home. Unfortunately, it was taking a long while for us to reach my house since the road was filled with traffic. Once we did finally arrive at my home, both my friend and his mother apologized that the drive took so long since they knew that I wanted to be back as soon as possible in order to cover something for the site. I couldn’t imagine why they would be apologizing to me for something that seemed so insignificant in the grand scheme of things (not to mention that they couldn’t exactly control the roads), but I think they really understood how much Nintendo Everything meant to me at the time – even though the site was in its extreme infancy.

That’s just one memory, but there are so many more. I’ll always remember covering the 3DS conference in 2011 when I was extremely sick and eventually landed in the hospital. There was another time when I was in the hospital for a small procedure – still ultimately surgery – and rushed back home to get back to work. There have also been so many times that I’ve forced myself to stay up or wake up at ridiculous hours to cover conferences or just to post about news in general. Back when I was at college, I’d run to my car, set up my laptop in the passenger’s seat, connect to Wi-Fi, and get in a few posts in between classes. Honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s been a long ride, to say the least!

What I hope everyone understands by reading this is how much time, energy, and dedication I put into the site each and every day, all year long. This is a job for me, but I’m doing it because I love it and I have a huge passion for being able to share updates about Nintendo with everyone – be it news, interviews, our reviews, or anything else. That was the original purpose of the site, and nothing more. That goal still holds true today.

So that’s another year in the books! We’ve reached ten years, and that still hasn’t settled in for me yet. Thank you to every single person who has made Nintendo Everything what it is today – be it a dedicated volunteer, a news tipper, someone in the comments, or just someone stopping by for a single visit. I hate being cliché here, but the site wouldn’t be the same without you all. I truly mean that.

Thanks for the support over the years! I’ll keep going for as long as I can.
