The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii sold 4.52 million copies in its first 16 months (Nov 2006 to Mar 2008).

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild on Switch sold 4.70 million copies in its first 7 months (Mar 2017 to Sep 2017).
It will easily become the best selling Zelda SKU of all time. It’s legs are incredible.

    • Separating TPWii from GCN is illogical. Give the real combined figure.

I also separated Breath of the Wild from Wii U. The comparison is lead platform vs lead platform for both games.

        But anyways…
        – Twilight Princess on GCN has sold ~1.5 million copies LTD.
        – Breath of the Wild on Wii U sold 1.06 million copies in its first month. I reckon Breath of the Wild on Wii U will end up selling around 1.5 million copies LTD.

Breath of the Wild is handily outpacing Twilight Princess in sales, whether you choose to include sales of the GCN/Wii U SKUs or not.

        • As I thought. I questioned why you decided to separate them at all and muddy the numbers as if the older-console versions count any less.

The top 5 best selling first party Switch games above have sold a total of 15.45 million copies. Pokken Tournament DX also launched during the quarter, but it has yet to ship 1 million copies.

Total Switch software sales have reached 27.58 million.

This 3rd party software sales on Switch have reached a minimum of 11.14 million units (assuming that Pokken is has sold just under, but not quite, 1 million copies).

Oh, that means more third party releases increased sales by a good chunk

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a remaster yet in just 7 months it’s already got over half the sales of the Wii U version which has been out for 3 years. Madness.

    • Tlink7

      I do want a big DLC expansion pack though… I don’t want to wait 7 more years for 32 new tracks ;-;

  • Aline Piroutek

Wow, Breath of the Wild on WiiU sold less than Mario Party 10. Clearly everyone who got a WiiU to play Zelda bought a Switch for it.

  • GoldenTriforce

Splatoon 2 did a bit better than I expected but Im not shocked Arms barely increased.

  • Tlink7

Heh, poor ARMS, beaten by 1,2 Switch, maybe increased time will turn that around

  • Lance Devon

Surprised to see Arms sell so much after seeing so much grief from the Switch community for not being as successful of an IP in comparison to Splatoon and chose to ignore its importance.

    • Because it’s objectively worse

      • Lance Devon

Which I guess makes it not count as a new IP. Cause that’s how Nintendo fans are.

In other news: Metroid Prime 5 isn’t announced, the series is officially dead.
