Nintendo to start talking more Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, here’s some art

Posted on January 18, 2016 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U

Nintendo is finally ready to talk about The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD again in an official capacity. The series’ Japanese Twitter account was updated today with a brief introduction from Eiji Aonuma… as well as Malo, a character in the game.

Nintendo didn’t touch on new features just yet. However, some art was posted (pictured above). We also have this translation of the various tweets:

“Hello, this is Aonuma. This year the world of Twilight returns in HD after 10 years. From today we’d like to introduce information on Twilight Princess for a while.

Twilight Princess is a story about the 2 worlds of ‘Light’ and ‘Darkness’. The game’s scale was getting bigger, and at the early stages of the original [GameCube version], we drew a lot of setting scenes. We also plan to publish [things like] discussions and [hidden] treasured images at times, so please look forward to them!

The introductions from now on will be brought by Malo who appears in this game. Malo, I’m leaving it to you!

…I’m Malo. I may look like this, but I’m the owner of ‘Malo Mart’, the hero of prices. …I won’t forgive you if you think I’m a child and ridicule me [because of that]…”

Would you rather have Tingle instead?

      • The Hero of Twilight

        good point

      • Annie

        I would <3

  • Adrian Brown

I love the Malo Shop theme, I’ve spent more time just there listening to the music than I should.

    • smashbrolink

I only went to the Castle Town branch for the Magic Armor.
Other than that, I never visit the place.
Because those people dancing is nightmare fuel in the most literal of senses…

  • Buy it now, if you’re smart, buy it now at MAAAALO MART!

Also why is Malo a tiny shoulder baby?

  • Vigilante_blade

Aonuma, tell us which controllers are supported. Actual useful info.

    • Jack Red

I think it’s pretty much a given that the game will support the same controllers that WWHD used plus the possibility of Wiimote+Nunchuck.

      • Vigilante_blade

I would hope so (except for Wiimote), but the problem is that we are not 100% certain. Nintendo could at the very least tell us whenever they announce a game.

        • Jack Red

If WWHD and HW offered what I said as the controllers, there’s no reason to make TPHD Gamepad only.

          • Vigilante_blade

Yes, this is absolutely true, but Nintendo has been known to make stupid choices. Star Fox Zero for example seems to not even give people the option to use the controller that they want.

          • Jack Red

With Star Fox Zero, it sort of makes sense as you’d need it for certain parts of the game. Just like with Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

          • Vigilante_blade

It does not make sense in either case. The way Captain Toad was made, it could have easily have worked with a pro controller. The same is true for Star Fox Zero where you could just press a button to change perspective.

Besides, Star Fox 64 had a first person mode before, proving my point. Furthermore, no one ever used it, showing how forcing it may not be advisable.

          • Jack Red

I can’t exactly see how the tapping a certain part of the stage, blowing in the mic to make certain platforms go up could be done with anything other than the gamepad. It would be like playing LOZ Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks without the touchscreen/blowing into mic capabilities.

          • Vigilante_blade

Add an on screen cursor, put the “blowing mechanic” on a button. No game should ever have you blow on the pad. That’s just stupid. And sure, both those Zelda games could be played with classic controls, and would play better.

  • I’m getting like a major good guy, Goku vibe from Link in that art, I freaking love it.

    • Fantasy Police

      Bro Yasssss

He has that classic “I’m gonna save the day no matter WHAT!” look, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who saw that!!!!

  • Blanco8x8

Even though Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game, I can’t stand how horribly ugly some of the characters are. And somehow, this man-baby is who I really despise the most. I’ll take the snot boy from The Wind Waker over this little freak.

    • KnightWonder

That’s what happens when you create cartoony characters in a more realistic style.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Finally a smile. I hate TP Link the most because he has even less facial expression than OoT Link.

  • KnightWonder

Ironically, that drawing of Link is the most expressive I’ve seen him in TP.

  • Reggie

Malo is easily one of the most disturbing characters in the entire game. A sarcastic baby-faced baby who single-handedly creates a monopoly, and in the process of taking over an entire high-end shop, forces a grown man to change his entire attitude, demeanor and even name to work as an employee in the city branch. I suspect Malo is able to brainwash people.

But I am looking forward to the new info.

  • Realm25

I’m surprised Malo hasn’t become part of some creepy pasta by now.

  • maurer156

i was expecting Mario wearing that costume…

  • Addy the Wanderer
  • Zura

Idk if I should buy this, already played this on GC and Wii.. Great game regardless. Best zelda game imo.

  • The Hero of Twilight

    SOOOOOOOOO Excited for TPHD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MagcargoMan

Why is creepy baby-child even smaller?
