Pokemon Sun/Moon – Japanese split for the two versions, sales for the special New 3DS XL designs, more
Media Create reported that Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon sold 1.591 million copies in its first three days in Japan. Additional information from the sales tracker reveals that Sun sold 808,000 copies while Moon was at 783,000 units.
If you count the Double Pack which also sold 151,000 units (containing two games in each), the overall total is 1.893 million. That puts Pokemon Sun/Moon at the same scale as X/Y, which sold 1.867 million in first week without the Double Pack. Both also have the relatively same sell-through rate of about 80 percent.
However, the pre-order number for Sun/Moon, sitting at 1.406 million (including Double Pack) is lacking a bit when compared to X/Y’s 1.740 million. Even though Pokemon GO’s release did attract attention to the whole Pokemon series, it’s surmised that the mobile game had a limited effect on boosting reservation numbers.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the New 3DS XL sold 81,000 units in total. This includes sales for the special Pikachu Edition design (34,000 units) and Solgaleo Lunala Black Edition (9,000 units). The whole 3DS family sold 108,000 units.
