More on the debut Japanese sales and sell-through rate for Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon went on sale in Japan last week. Following the initial news about their sales, Media Create provides new information about how the two games performed.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon sold a combined total of about 1,163,000 copies (with counting the double pack as two copies). They sold about 60% of Sun and Moon (which sold about 1,893,000 units in their first week).
That’s roughly the same ratio as Platinum from Diamond/Pearl, with sales going from 1,589,000 to 963,000 units for a 60.63% ratio. It’s also similar to Black 2/White 2 from the original Black/White (2,558,000 to 1,562,000 copies, 61.06% ratio).
However, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon had a lower sell-through rate for both the regular games and the double pack. Also, the regular versions didn’t even reach 70%, so it has a rather lower starting line compared to past entries in the series.
Media Create does expect sales to pick up. Considering that the original Sun/Moon were released during the same time frame last year and sold about 983,000 copies just in December, the sales tracker believes Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon can obtain more sales throughout the holiday season as demand for presents will be high.
