[Let’s Talk] Predict the release months of these 2019 Switch games

Posted on October 27, 2018 by (@NE_Brian) in Let's Talk

If you thought 2018 was a bit slow in terms of big new Switch games published by Nintendo, there’s a good chance that 2019 will raise your spirits. We actually know about quite a few games that due out next year. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe kicks things off on January 11. Other confirmed titles include Yoshi’s Crafted World, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Daemon X Machina, Animal Crossing, and a new core Pokemon entry. Other possibilities include Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4. There have also been rumors about a Star Fox racing game from Retro Studios.

Nintendo should clarify its plans further in the months ahead – at least for the first half of 2019. No one knows if we’ll get another general Nintendo Direct before the year is over, but we could see a thing or two at The Game Awards, and January presentations have been a thing for the past few years.

While we wait, let’s play a little game. Try to predict the release windows of the games mentioned above. The likes of Yoshi’s Crafted World and Fire Emblem: Three Houses seem like games that could drop during the first half based on what Nintendo has said previously, but what about launch months? If you want to go further than that and take a random guess, you could even name a specific release date you believe would make sense. It might also be worth discussing if you believe Metroid Prime 4 and / or Bayonetta 3 will be 2019 titles. The goal here is to try and predict how Nintendo will structure its lineup for 2019.

Highlights from last week’s topic: What would you want out of a Switch revision?

To not be terrible.

But seriously:

-longer battery life
-resolution that isn’t subpar on handheld mode, no lower then 720p
-games that are not Wii U leftovers that cost the same when the games were released
-better Joy-Cons
-a bigger storage, no less then 128 GB, it’s not 2006, get with the times
-Switch versions that are not garbage and watered down
-no cloud versions
-voice chat
-headphone port on controllers
-not get called a hater whenever I criticize anything Nintendo releated
-no more half-games bundles

固茹で

– Better battery
– Better screen
– Smaller bezel
– More internal memory
– Higher RAM
– Redesigned kickstand
– Redesigned joy-cons to better suit longer hours of portable play
– Redesigned dock its size must reflect whats actually inside it
– Charging port relocated to better suit portable play
– D-pad on left joy-con
– In portable mode game resolution is 720p minimum, no more 480p in portable mode

Bezel less design on the Switch, I’m in the minority but it really annoys me the black borders, I don’t know if due to OCD or whatnot but it’s annoying and I think it makes it look cheap.

A little more power if its possible to make games run better, right now painfully honest I feel like every switch game comes out broken or with dips that just annoys me. I don’t care for FPS I just want it a normal standard 30+FPS.

It would be great for the possibility of more demanding games like COD if it ever gets a port or to try and achieve higher FPS in games like Fortnite where currently it’s not in a good state.

Fix the Switch lag(not latency) in eShop/Games/Software, I would occasionally get hiccups of little slowdowns that I notice on my switch quite often, eShop being one common place to get them. I don’t mind waiting a few additional seconds but it constantly reminds me that the system feels cheap.

I want to support the Nintendo Switch coming from a handheld PSP guy, when the PS Vita failed I was happy to see the Switch announced but it just doesn’t seem good as I have expected, there are so many flaws on the Switch but I’ll wait to see what is in store for the new revision.

At the end of the day, I’m a happy Switch owner, just hope for more improvement.

We don’t need more internal memory. Those who need more can pay the difference via a microSD card. What is a problem however, are cheapskate publishers releasing unfinished games and/or imposing mandatory downloads (and this also includes the omission of voice packs, that can just as easily be included on the cartridge). Internal memory should not even be an issue if all physical games had a complete version on cartridge, and games with day one updates do not count as the publisher’s desire to put the game on shelves asap clearly outweighed their desire to produce a quality product.

The only exceptions for day one updates that I would happily accept are sports games such as FIFA, as the squads, kits, and stats may not be up to date by the time the game is on shelves.

Switch XL, with a bigger emphasis on TableTop mode (for local multiplayer, anywhere) rather than portable play, and ability to still Dock. It’d be perfect for Smash amongst other things. New joycon closer to the size of a wiimote which will be more comfortable as the joycon are too small. Anti-reflective screen, and more solid kickstand with a few angles. I expect it to cost a bit more, that’s fine, I’d go for it
