Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers – New details emerge
In one of the latest leaks from Famitsu, new details have arrived concerning Persona 5 Scramble. You can view them below.
An interview featuring Daisuke Kaneda, an Atlus producer and Kenichi Ogasawara from Koei Tecmo has had its details revealed. We’ve included some of the translated points below, paraphrased for clarity:
♢ Koei Tecmo originally proposed the game due to Famitsu readership wanting to see a “musou” spin-off title featuring the series.
♢ The games engine was made by Koei Tecmo and does not work the same as what players would be familiar with in Persona 5.
♢ Atlus suggested that the development team travel the country in RV’s for research purposes.
♢ The original story came from Koei Tecmo’s draft, but was heavily supervised by the Persona Team. With the meticulous attention to detail by both companies, the original story plan apparently looked like burned ashes.
♢ Some special characters will appear across different parts of Japan.
♢ For the gameplay, developers at first believed that the “command selection” mechanic, which freezes time to allow the player to select a Persona skill, would destroy the pacing of the game, but when finished felt really comfortable and created a new type of Phantom-thief action.
♢ The “musou” genre is about the feel of smashing enemies, but P5S has a system that allows you to observe the weaknesses/resistances of an enemy while you move around, allowing you to take your equipment and partnered Personas into account.
♢ There is no point to elements that can be cleared without engaging without any of the game’s systems, and the developers wanted to make use of the combinations. There’s the ability to change the difficulty level of the game for those interested.
♢ The music was handled by the team who worked with the Persona Q series and other games, with names like Atsushi Kitajoh, in addition to Gota Masuoka, who has made music for the Warriors games, and MASA (Koei Tecmo composer). Many new songs and arrangements have been created.
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers will be released for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on February 20, 2020 in Japan.
