Miyamoto on casual games for 3DS

– nintendogs + cats was made before Mario
– This was unusual for Nintendo
– Miyamoto: as long as nintendogs is out there, casual gamers will have something to play
– Built-in 3DS features such as Face Raiders were made more for casual experiences and they’re included with the system so you have experiences to enjoy when you buy the system
– Nintendo focusing more on traditional experiences with 3DS
– This is the area that Miyamoto is putting his energy into for now
– Developers making casual games that will be revealed when development is more complete

Miyamoto on how boys/girls play Nintendo franchises differently

– Women play Mario quite a bit
– Mario Galaxy sounds male somewhat
– Miyamoto knew some girl’s thought Luigi’s Mansion was too scary to play when he made the name
– Miyamoto thinks all gamers play games the same way
– Miyamoto just wants to make fun experiences
– For Star Fox, Miyamoto took the male-oriented dream of flying a jet and made it come true

Miyamoto on whether Skyward Sword is Nintendo’s last Wii game

– Miyamoto must make games for Nintendo’s newest systems
– As a result, Skyward Sword might be his team’s last Wii game
– Miyamoto can’t speak for Nintendo as a whole (their other dev teams)
– More unannounced Wii games to come
– Eiji Aonuma wants Skyward Sword to be good enough to close out the Wii

Star Fox 64 3D talk

– Joking around that if people aren’t convinced that Star Fox is a fun game to play, then 64 3D will be the last game
– Team is working hard on the title

Super Mario 3D talk

– Speed is maintained in the game as well as players’ ability to accurately control Mario
– Game will feature challenging areas

Wii Vitality Sensor

– Development still underway
– Nintendo looking for it to be more consistent
– Nintendo doing more research
– Will see if they can release it in the future

Super Mario 3D raccoon suit – why you can’t fly, where the idea came from

– There was a Mario raccoon form that couldn’t fly
– That suit is being used since making Mario fly on a small screen isn’t easy
– Takashi Tezuka: suit was born from wanting to put a tail on Mario since they wanted to make him spin and take out enemies that way, had him use it like a propellor to flutter
