[Let’s Talk] Will you be picking up Splatoon 3?
Splatoon 3 is the next big Switch game from Nintendo and is just a couple of weeks away. Most have likely made a decision as to whether they’ll be picking it up in September. However, there is also the Splatfest demo happening right now that gives players a bit of a preview of what they can expect from the final game.
Some have argued that Splatoon 3 doesn’t feel new enough, but many fans are very happy with how it’s been looking. What side of the fence do you sit on? Are you planning on buying Splatoon 3 next month? Let us know in the comments.

It’s too bad that half the presentation was explaining Splatoon to newcomers.
Then there weren’t any game-changing elements like I was hoping for, so it’s really just an iterative sequel with a few extra elements. I wonder how the three-way battles will go, that’s something a little fresh at least. The card game could be fun too, but it seems like a detail. I was really curious about the solo stuff but either they chose to say very little or there is very little to say.
Overall I feel like the direct confirmed that this episode won’t be a big departure from previous ones. I hope it will please the fans at least but I don’t see it convincing a new audience and doing better than Splatoon 2, it’s really just more of the same.

Casuals seem to be more interested after the direct. People who understand the deeper competitive side see all the huge gameplay changes and quality of life improvements they’ve made. The adopt-an-opinion internet crew want to keep harping that it isnt enough of a sequel but I think its apparent that with multiplayer changes, gear/loadout changes, weapon/special changes, new movement mechanics all present a very different game with a different meta to form and is a true evolution of the game. I’m definitely excited to hop in to a new version and have a bunch of new players to compete with. Hard disagree its just more of the same.

I think it’ll do well with newcomers to the series, but people who’ve been deeper into the series will be more skeptical. I’ve played the first and second one, so it is kind of iterative, but I want to try the Testfire to see how the game feels.
I think most changes will make it a step up from Splatoon 2, so long as the updates are as good or better. Nintendo’s free update plans have been wonky overall, but Splatoon’s track record gives me confidence in how the game will be updated.
Of course, I could be wrong, but we’ll see.
