Minecraft update version 1.20

Today, Mojang shared the first details about the next major update for Minecraft, version 1.20. It will launch sometime in 2023. Mojang will be using the time until release to shape the update throughout the development process and gain input from the community.

Although a name for the update hasn’t been shared, we do know what the theme is. It’s intended to enable self-expression through representation.

Here’s what we know about the Minecraft version 1.20 update thus far:

– Seven new default skins being added
– You can play with these skins in the game, but they’ll be shown in trailers, key art, etc. going forward
– New items called hanging signs; players can use strip logs; changes and craft them
– These blocks can be crafted with every wood types and they have three different states
– New wood set for bamboo
– This wood set has a block that no other wood sets have called bamboo mosaic
– Raft to be included as well, use bamboo to craft it
– Chiseled bookshelves being added to the game as a new block; interact with it to store 1-6 books
– Redstone is supported with the bookshelves
– Camels coming to the game
– Camels have a dash ability that lets you clear ravines or rivers
– Two players can be on a camel at the same time

At least on PC, version 1.20 will be offered via a beta / snapshot / preview update in a few days. More information should be shared on the official website soon.
