Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom devs on frame rate and menu criticisms
The developers of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom have responded to a couple of criticisms – namely the game’s frame rate and menu system for echoes.
There are certain parts of the experience in which the frame rate can move between 60 and 30 FPS. In the end though, co-director Tomomi Sano said this was the “best option” available.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has over 100 echoes to collect, and because of that, it can lead to some frustration when it comes to selecting them. There are some filters available, but even that isn’t enough to eliminate all frustration.
Co-director Satoshi Terada had this to say about that, as shared by BBC:
“One of the essences of this game is being able to figure out different ways of using each of these echoes. And so in that sense we wanted players to fall upon and see the echoes that they may not have noticed or have been using while they’re sorting through all the echoes that they have.”
Terada added that there’s an alternative notebook method which enables players to access the echoes they’ve gathered more quickly.
Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is out now on Nintendo Switch. You can read up more regarding the game’s technical side here.
