Steam-Heart’s & Advanced Variable Geo Saturn Tribute announced for Nintendo Switch
Today, City Connection unveiled Steam-Heart’s & Advanced Variable Geo Saturn Tribute. The Nintendo Switch release is slated for May 29, 2025 in Japan.
You’re getting two different experiences here. Steam-Heart’s is a sci-fi shooter while Advanced Variable Geo is a fighter. There’s support for various features such as the ability to rewind gameplay.
Here’s a bunch of additional details:
This is a compilation of two titles in one game: the full-scale sci-fi shooter Steam-Heart’s, which was also a hot topic for its cute visuals, and the fighting game Advanced Variable Geo, which was ported to various hardware at the time and was also popular in anime and comics. The port has been adjusted to suit the needs of the Saturn Tribute, and there are a wide range of options such as save & load and rewind functions to support a wide range of players from fans of the original to new players.
Both titles support functions such as “Rewind,” “Quick Save,” and “Extra Options” (setting changes to make gameplay easier), which have been well received in the “Saturn Tribute” series, a project to revive masterpieces from the Saturn era. A comprehensive playing guide (manual) is also included.
Steam-Heart’s
A virus attacks the beautiful planet Westina. The Master Embrios who ruled the planet began to oppress them, and the paradise of dreams was destroyed. In order to save the world infected by the virus, two people rise up to treat the Master Embrios.
It features a story mode with full voice and visual scenes, an arcade mode with only shooting stages, a score attack mode where you compete for the highest score within a time limit, and a boss rush mode where you fight boss characters repeatedly.
New features include an option to increase the player’s endurance, and a support function that allows the player to carry over weapon items that were reset when a stage was cleared in the original game.
Advanced Variable Geo
“VG” is a martial arts tournament to decide the strongest waitress. The tournament has a total prize of 1 billion yen, and the company to which the winner belongs will be given a legendary first-class location. Heroines representing various stores have put their names forward to compete.
The game features a normal mode where you can compete in tournaments with your favorite character, a story mode where the drama unfolds with a wealth of animation and visuals, and a VS mode where you can enjoy 2-player battles and battles against the computer.
New features include a guide function that displays a command list next to the battle screen, and a function that automatically inputs super special move commands with a single button press. Recommended for fighting game beginners.
