[Let’s Talk] What are you playing? – May 2025
A new month started up this week. Now that we’re in May, we want to know what you’ve been playing.
While big releases have slowed a bit as of late, there’s still a ton to play, including on Nintendo Switch. Whether it’s new games, new additions to Nintendo Switch Online, or something else entirely, let us know what you’ve been going through in the comments.
Highlights from last week’s topic: Did you pre-order Nintendo Switch 2?

Short answer, I successfully pre-ordered it. Target was a nightmare. I was allowed to put it in my cart several times, but checkout kept freezing and said there was an error and to try again. Walmart just put me in a line that never updated. Best Buy was where I ultimately picked it up, but it was so frustrating because it didn’t allow you to do anything until about 12:20-30am. Once I saw it was going to a line, I almost gave up, but then noticed about 30 minutes later, the line page had me login it. I did this a few times with each preorder item (pro controller, camera, etc.)

Yup, I wake up at 6 am for work. Went to sleep around 11 set my alarm for 11:55 and got it from the target app at 11:03 checkout time. Besides it briefly saying preorders sold out right at midnight it was really easy. Just kept refreshing the page every couple secondsuntil it was available. And the app was really fast too no lag or slow load times.

I was able to preorder it on Game Stop’s website on the day of the Direct. I’m in Europe so I didn’t have to wait.
I went a little overboard and got the console bundle with Mario Kart World, a second pair of joy-cons, the charging grip, the pro controller, the camera, the carrying case and a 256GB Micro SD Express, then later the new Rune Factory and the NSO Gamecube Controller from the My Nintendo Store. Also a new TV with 4k, HDR and all that stuff to replace my 20 year-old one.

I’m in Spain. A couple of days after the Direct, I saw a vídeo from Jon from GVG amd he was talking about game prices in Europe, but this time for the Switch 2. He showed Amazon France as an example. So I paused and checked Amazon Spain. The games weren’t there, but both versions of the Switch 2 were. I pre ordered immediately. Since then, they paused sale and returned two or three times that I checked. So I hope mine is safe. I also got DKB in another store with their discount + an esta 10 euro off for the first time purchased. So I only paid €50 for it.
I won’t rest easy until my S2 arrives, but the pre order was a breeze, unlike what North America went through

Hell yeah I did, preordered as soon as it was available after the NS2 direct.
Price ain’t an issue, got a job that pays well and the “new cost” of NS2 games are exactly the same as PS5 & Xbox games.
Plan to take a few weeks off work to pick it up and have a bit of time gaming on it.
A little over a month to go! Can’t wait!

I preordered the Mario Kart World bundle, Bravely Default and a Pro Controller. The BD boxart doesn’t have the game key notice, so I’m hoping it will have the game on the actual cart here in Europe, but maybe I’m a bit too optimistic.
Also, it’s weird to me that people are so upset about the price. For the last 8 years or so people have been complaining about ‘outdated tech’, then the Switch 2 with some pretty nice specs and people are complaining that they have to pay for it. Did they really think they’d get Switch 2 tech at Switch 1 prices?
