Nintendo Direct September 2025 live stream

With the massive September 2025 Nintendo Direct presentation kicking off in just a bit we have a post set up for the live streams and a live blog. It all starts at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM in the UK / 3 PM in Europe. 

This is one of the longest Nintendo Directs ever with the estimated length coming in at about an  hour. Upcoming games for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch will be covered.

We’ll also have our regular live blog going, which will include details about the different games shown off. Dedicated posts for each title will also be added to the main site as they’re covered.

Today’s Direct opens with

  • Mario’s 40th Anniversary – the video shows off concept art and level sketches from past games. 
    Artwork for the series will be showcased in the Nintendo Museum.
  • Nintendo World opening in Florida was then shown.
  • Kyoto Marathon is mentioned as being supported by Nintendo. Mario himself is said to be at the event to cheer on the runners. Nintendo is inviting travelers to come run in Kyoto.
  • The video changes over to a 3D Mario sleeping against a tree. We pan down and explore a vast open world. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is announced, releasting April of 2026.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are shown off as a combo pack for Nintendo Switch, with new Amiibo functionality and Amiibo for the duo. The games will be playable on Switch 2.

  • Mario Tennis: Fever will be out for the Nintendo Switch 2. The new gimmick utilitizes a bar that must be filled in order to use special Fever Shots. 30 rackets and 30 characters available to play as will give players a lot of creative ways to enjoy the game online and offline with various game modes as well, the most surprising of which is an adventure mode featuring baby Mario. The game is noted to have a February 12, 2026 launch date
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which includes new content “Meetup in Bellabel Park” which has multiplayer minigames and challenges. More new content is teased to be revealed later.
  • A new Yoshi game is shown off, with Yoshi going on investigations and collecting flowers he can use to help him discover more to log in his little field book. This game launches on Nintendo Switch 2 next Spring.
  • Storm Lancers, a 2D roguelike adventure is shown. Colorful cell-shaded graphics and flashy abilities make this pop. Couch co-op mode. Available later today.
  • Dinkum, a survival life sim will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The island you explore can be turned into a bustling town, and up to four players can cooperatively play online or couch co-op. Coming November 5th.
  • Popucom is a multiplayer only game coming to our console. Players must work together to defeat powerful bosses and solve puzzles. Up to four players can enjoy content in an alternate mode.
  • Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream shown. Mii creation tools will allow players to create Miis to enjoy island life however they see fit. This life simulation game will have more information shown in the future, with the game planned to launch next spring.
  • Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will be coming to Switch 2, with games from the franchise’s span across multiple platforms being incuded. Physical and Digital versions will be available this Fall.
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade shown on Switch 2, launching January 22nd, 2026
  • Lynked: Banner of the Spark Is a top down adventure game where you can team up with friends or adventure solo. Crafting, combat, and exploration are shown. Launches today.
  • A cinematic animation opens the next game’s introduction. Hades II has the player in the role of the princess of the under world and boasts gameplay similar to its predecessor. The gods of Olympus will be crucial in player progression. Multiple paths in story based on player choice. Launches September 25th on Switch and Switch 2.
  • Two new Amiibo for Kirby Air Riders. Amiibo will allow players to swap characters in game. 2nd AirRiders Direct will happen.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment announced. Zelda goes back in time and meets the first King of Hyrule, Rauru, and the two work together to meet their goals. Split screen co op available, and game share will be supported for this game. Launches November 6, 2025.
  • Dragon Quest VII  Reimagined shown with new 3D approach and voice acting. This will be coming to Switch and Switch 2.
  • Nintendo Today app shown now, adding a new Kirby theme. 
  • Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will now include Virtual Boy games. A dedicated Virtual Boy hardware accessory will be available for players to slot their Switch into. 14 games will launch over time, with this coming to Switch Online February 17, 2026.
  • Fatal Frame II:  Crimson Butterfly Remake announced for next year.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Editions: 
    One Piece: Pirate Warrors 4, Overcooked 2, Stardew Valley (Mouse controls, 4 player split screen, and game share.) Human Fall Flat (mouse controls)
  • PowerWash Simulator 2 this Fall.
  • Suika Game Planet. A new take on the popular fruit dropping game. GameShare will be a supported feature for multiplayer fun. Arrives this Winter.
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Samus is on a bike of some sort and it pans into a cave full of of enemies to destroy. Launches December 4th.
  • Donkey Kong Bananza DK Island and Emerald RushDLC announced. New adventures will show occur both on DK Island and wherever the Void King’s business ventures take you respectively. Available on the eShop today along with a demo of the main game.
  • A new Pokemon adventure featuring a Ditto is shown. The terrain and world are blocky. Ditto learns moves from other Pokemon to help the island flourish and improve life for everyone. You’ll process materials into meals, furniture and decor. Pokemon: Pokopia arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A shown, with Mega battles being the focal point. Gen VI starter megas shown.
  • Mega Raichu X and Y are shown for Paid DLC that will be available. The DLC is called Mega Dimension and relates to Hoopa somehow.
  • Danganronpa 2×2 announced. Coming next year.
  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins coming to Switch 2. Paid DLC is also on the way for this title that will feature other characters. Both launch on January 22, 2026.
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection announced. Monsters can once again be ridden to explore maps that are even more open than before. We will once again be preventing calamity with the power of monster friendship. Coming March 13, 2026
  • Two Point Museum, Disgaea 7 Complete, EA Sports FE 26, Dragon Quest 1&2 Remake, Virtua Figther, LEGO VOyagers, Little Nightmares III, Persona 3 Reload all rapid fire shown.
  • Resident Evil 9: Requiem comes to Switch 2 February 27, 2026, along with 7: Biohazard and 8: Village.
  • Last announcement: Fire Emblem game features a blue haired kid (This NEVER happens in a Fire Emblem game) named Cai possibly as the main player character. City areas are larger and more open than the last couple of entries. Massive maps with open battles, a huge focus on arena fights also. Sothis seems to be in this one so possibly future Fodlan. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Wave will come to Switch 2 in 2026
