Tales of remake

The Tales of series has seen a lot of remasters over the past couple of years, but how about a remake? Could we get one of those down the road? Bandai Namco has now commented on the possibility.

Yuusuke Tomizawa, the current director for the Tales of IP, shared a few words in this month’s issue of Game Informer. While noting that Bandai Namco has had “lots of discussions internally about potential ones” and “it’s a possibility”, he also pointed out that there could be a ton of work involved – the amount of resources could even exceed that of an entirely new game.

Tomizawa’s full words about a potential Tales of remake are as follows:

“Remakes also often need a lot of resources, almost as much as making a new game, sometimes even more. It’s not an easy project. Even if we do one, it’ll need to have as much potential as a new game. There have been lots of discussions internally about potential ones, but we understand that fans want old games, especially ones where people fondly remember them, so it’s a possibility. Timing does need to work out for them.”

Although we won’t be seeing a Tales of remake imminently, fans can at least look forward to remasters. When asked about the next one, Tomizawa said: “We like to do the titles that fans have been looking forward to, so stay tuned for news on that.”

Tales of Berseria Remastered will be out for Nintendo Switch on February 26, 2026. Learn more about the game here.
