Overwatch 2 now called Overwatch, Nintendo Switch 2 version revealed, new heroes, more
During a new spotlight update today, Blizzard shared the latest on Overwatch 2, including a name change and a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Going forward, the game will simply be known as Overwatch. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is confirmed to be in the works as well. While we don’t have a release date, it will launch with season 2. Unfortunately, other specifics weren’t shared.
Season 1 is starting on February 10, 2026. There’ll be an annual story with a beginning, middle, and end. The story will evolve across six seasons in the year, with a new season 1 starting the next chapter in 2027. Expect to see in-game events, animated hero trailers, short stories, and comics.
Ten new heroes are coming this year, starting with five for season 1 next week. With new heroes, players will see map updates (two new core maps), artwork changes, and new voice lines. Domina, Emre, Mizuki, Anran, and Jetpack Cat are the new heroes.
