Level-5 announced a new game titled “Wonder Flick” during its Vision event in Japan today… and it’s coming out on almost every major platform.

Wonder Flick is a brand new touch-centric RPG with some pretty major talent. Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino is directing, Nobuo Uematsu is working on the game’s music, Nao Ikeda is in charge of character designs, and Takuz? Nagano from the Professor Layton franchise is designing boss creatures.

It sounds like save data can be shared between platforms. Additionally, each version will apparently have its own unique dungeon.

Wonder Flick is scheduled to launch on Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Xbox One, and iOS/Android. It’s due out on mobile platforms this November, followed by dedicated gaming platforms in 2014.

Game Night will begin at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT. Most of the friend code exchanging will take place around a half hour prior.

Two items are attached to this page. First, above, is our official Twitch account. Any Wii U games played during Game Night will be streamed, and will eventually be posted to our official YouTube channel.

Below is what we’ll use to communicate with each other. You don’t need to sign up with any sort of service to join, and you don’t have to be playing to chat with us. Just enter any name you desire and you’ll be good to go.

Hi all. My name is Scott Duncan (some may know me as Unlikely Yuusha), and I create video game reviews which are filled to the brim with my terrible ideas and ridiculous personality. Hopefully this is something you’ll enjoy.

The debut episode in Nintendo Everything’s new “Unlikely Reviews” series is Super Mario Sunshine, which I’d say is one of the more under-appreciated titles of the GameCube. In the video above, I take a look back on the game and remember the lovable setting and characters.

Nintendo released an enhanced GamePad battery in Japan a few weeks ago. How does it perform? Japanese publication Game Watch put the new battery to the test earlier this month

The original GamePad battery was sitting at 1500mAh, but the new large-capacity battery pack is about 1.7 times stronger at 2550mAh. And whereas the original had an operating time of about 3-5 hours, the new one is said to last between 5-8 hours.

Game Watch set the GamePad’s brightness to the highest point, all power-saving methods were turned off, vibration was turned on, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’s opening movie was played on full blast. In this state, Dengeki measured the amount of time until the controller powered down from a complete depletion of battery life.

The results were pretty encouraging, as the GamePad lasted 5 hours and 12 minutes. Previously, the original battery would last about 3 hours in this state.

We should mention that the size of the battery pack is about 1.5 times bigger than the original, so where the original sits vertically in the back of the GamePad, the newer and bigger battery fits perfectly sideways. It just barely fits into the back of the controller.


Joystiq has compiled a series of stats about this year’s Gamescom expo, posted below. The big highlight? 340,000 people attended this year’s show, up from just over 275,000 attendees in 2012.

Here’s the full roundup of stats:

  • 635 exhibitors from 40 countries (2012: 600 exhibitors from 40 countries; 2011: 557 exhibitors from 39 countries; 2010: 505 exhibitors from 33 countries; 2009: 458 companies attended from 31 countries).
  • Croissants consumed at hotel breakfast: 40 (2012: 35).
  • Liters of multivitamin juice consumed: 1 (2012: 6, 2011: 4).
  • Number of times the Joystiq crew locked themselves out of their rooms: 2.
  • Number of liters of Kölsch consumed by us: 3.6 liters (2012: 0.2; 2011: 8; 2010: 1.6; 2009: 6).
  • Number of times “excess” was experienced: 0.
  • Number of times we were confused as working for the French magazine: 0 (2012: 1; 2011: 2).
  • Evenings of Turkish take-out (Turkish pizza is amazing!): 0, our place across the street was turned into a currywurst joint (2012: 2; 2011: 3).
  • Number of horse images in our hotel room: 10. Same hotel room as the past three years.
  • Number of Super Joystiq Podcast guests that hung out in our hotel room: 17 (2012: 13; 2011: 7).
  • Number of things that went wrong during the Gamescom EA and Sony press conferences: 0. Expected karmic retribution for that amount of luck: limitless.
  • Number of times we ate at the Bier Esel (Beer Donkey): 1. (2012: 3; 2011: 2).
  • Number of times we had a surly waitress at the Bier Esel, but didn’t care because the food was so good: 1. So saucy!
  • Number of times a homeless guy asked us for for cash: 1 (2012: 4; 2011: 12; 2010: 0; 2009: 8).
  • Number of times accosted by ladies on a bachelorette party for money: 1.
  • Schnitzels consumed: 1.
