Blizzard changes its tune, now says there are no plans for cross-platform play with Diablo III

Yesterday, Business Insider reported that cross-platform play was all but a sure thing for Diablo III. The publication received a comment from a representative who stated: “It’s a question of when, not if.”
One day later, the situation has flipped completely. Blizzard has now sent out a new statement in which it says that there are no plans for cross-platform play with Diablo III.
The comment is as follows:
“While we love the idea of bringing our players together across platforms, we do not have any plans to implement cross-platform gameplay for Diablo at this time.”
There are conflicting statements out there, but the one just above appears to be the one that we’ll have to go on. And unfortunately, it doesn’t look like cross-platform play is something that we’ll be seeing imminently.
