The world’s first review of Scribblenauts
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 6 Comments
Although Scribblenauts will undoubtedly provide countless hours of entertainment, many gamers are wondering how enjoyable the game actually is. Well, there’s at least one publication that believes it’s practically perfect. Ultimate Nintendo Magazine published the first review of Scribblenauts in its latest issue and awarded the game a perfect ten.
The title was praised for having the ability to “capture the attention of any person and have them experience an instant sense of delight,” its easy-to-use controls, addictiveness, creativity, and replayability. The magazine did manage to find some minor faults, however. Stylus-only controls can be slightly problematic in tight spaces and the numbers of objects allowed in a level can occasionally be limiting. Still though, it’s clear that the editor enjoyed the game and went as far as to say that “if you buy this game and cannot get some pure enjoyment out of it, there is something medically wrong with your brain.”

Pokemon creator talks HeartGold/SoulSilver
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 1 Comment
This information comes from a Famitsu interview with Tsunekazu Ishihara, the CEO/creator of Pokemon…
“Gold/Silver was released when Pokemon was a watchword across the entire world, when everybody was expecting everything from it. We wanted to outclass it, and that gave us quite a lot of pressure. We have to make people say that this is new, that it’s awesome, or else there’s no point. That’s why HG/SS has new features in every field. It’s packed with new stuff, and I think both the developers and the players are going to be satisfied.”
“A wireless adapter was included with FireRed and LeafGreen, an attempt to advance the system’s multiplayer functionality. [Nintendo president Satoru] Iwata wanted us to implement something fresh for people playing through Red/Green for the second time, so that was the result after a trial-and-error process. This time, of course, he advised us that we had better make something that outclassed the wireless adapter. Of course, I love devices like these too — Iwata pushes us like this with every project; it’s part of the process that led to development.”
“Appealing to old fans is an incredibly important theme for us. People who played the games back then are now getting jobs at our company, and making games that keep them playing is totally key. We need them to feel that the DS games are better and packed with more stuff than ever before.”
The first Pokemon title I purchased was Gold, but I haven’t played much of the series since then. I have to admit, though: These remakes are appealing and this is the most interest I’ve had in Pokemon since I plugged Gold into my Game Boy!
