Nintendo Co., Ltd. today reported record highs for both sales and operating profit in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009. Nintendo posted sales of more than 1.83 trillion yen and operating profits of more than 555 billion yen.

Worldwide annual sales of close to 26 million Wii™ home game systems in this past fiscal year brought lifetime totals to over 50 million, while more than 31 million portable Nintendo DS™ systems were sold in the same period, pushing the lifetime amount past 100 million units.

The chances of seeing remakes of the classic Pokemon Gold/Silver titles are even more likely with some new information. Alex Lucard, who has experience working with both Beckett’s Pokemon Collector Magazine and The Pokemon Company in Japan, has made a couple of claims about the games. First, Lucard says that there will indeed be two titles but they are not DuskGold and DawnSilver. He also notes that PokemonWhiteGold and MoonSilver will not be names of either version in spite of a few rumors floating around. And though Lucard would not discuss release date news, it was mentioned that the remakes may be seen in Japan this November, as that month will mark the 10th anniversary of Pokemon Gold and Silver.
