Nintendo Power has published the first images from “Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d you steal our garbage?!”. A couple of screenshots and two pieces of art can be found above.

According to WayForward, the Adventure Time 3DS/DS project will contain adventure gameplay. The studio considered making it a puzzle-platformer or brawler, but thought that it wouldn’t be true to the show’s title.

WayForward designer Matt Bozon said the team “decided that something like Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link was the common ground.”

He added:

“Because of this our top-view areas focus on quests and exploration, and the side view combines combat with platforming.”

More information can be found in the July 2012 issue of Nintendo Power.

WayForward will be bringing Mighty Switch Force to the Wii U, Nintendo Power has revealed. The magazine has the first report on the game including screenshots and details.

Mighty Switch Force HD features newly drawn sprites, the already-released free DLC from the 3DS title, and GamePad functionality. Players can experience the entire title on the tablet alone or use it in conjunction with the television to get a larger view of the Hooligan Tracker.

If all goes well, Mighty Switch Force HD will be available for the Wii U’s launch. It could even feature a bit of new content.

And one final nugget from WayForward in general: the studio is currently planning new games for both Wii U and 3DS. These unannounced projects aren’t related to Mighty Switch Force HD.

Masahiro Sakurai tweeted the photo above earlier today, which features Smash Bros. art drawn on a whiteboard. He said that the Smash Bros. team made the “excellent” image.

This is more of a random doodle than it is a sign of the roster for the next Smash Bros., but we can appreciate the art for what it is. It’s quite nice!

Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise launches in Europe this Friday.

Last year, Smile Boom released the interesting DSiWare title Petit Computer, an app that allows users to make their own games with the BASIC programming language. Gamebridge will be bringing the software over to the North American service this summer.

Petit Computer comes with 512 pre-packed sprites and 256 backgrounds. You can make your own creations on the DS touch screen as well.

Once you’ve made your art, entered BASIC commands, and finished your project, you can exchange your program with others wirelessly. It’s also possible to save the program to an SD card and convert it into a QR code.

In one way, the Nintendo Update “show” acts as a replacement for Nintendo Week. However, Nintendo Update is produced monthly whereas Nintendo Week could be seen each week… not to mention that Nintendo Week was more of an actual show.
