We just wanted to give you a heads-up that the DS demo for Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS: Miles Edgeworth is available for download today! Users can download it directly from the Nintendo Channel and DS download stations at participating retailers. This will give fans a sample of what to expect when the game comes out on February 16 across North America.

Ace Attorney Investigations sheds light on the other side of the judicial system with a whole new gameplay dynamic to the world of Ace Attorney. As Miles Edgeworth, users will investigate various locations, work directly with characters on the scene, find contradictions, and get to the truth by presenting decisive evidence. Miles Edgeworth can also make use of the all-new “Logic” system, in which he chooses two pieces of information out of the various pieces he has collected and “combines” them to discover new information. Ace Attorney Investigations features several lengthy, interrelated episodes that will challenge players to use their minds to solve the series of crimes that have been committed around Miles Edgeworth.

This information comes from Capcom’s latest financial support…

“In this business segment, ‘Mega Man Exe: Operate Shooting Star’ (for Nintendo DS) achieved steady sales supported by their established brand names during this quarter. Our lower-priced software title ‘Monster Hunter Freedom Unite PSP the Best’ (for PlayStation Portable), whose price has been reduced further from its original low-price, also grew favorably, whereas ‘Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles’ (for Wii) and ‘Okami’ (for Wii) saw slow sales. Capcom’s flagship title ‘Monster Hunter Tri’ (for Wii) achieved healthy growth, and ‘Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth’ (for Nintendo DS) performed satisfactorily.”

As a huge supporter of Okami, I’m very saddened by this news. Darkside Chronicles recently released in Japan and the sales have been decent so far, but they have been slow in North America. At least there is some good news for Capcom from Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, Monster Hunter 3, and Mega Man EXE: Operate Shooting Star.

Iwata on the Asahi confusion…

Iwata says the question was: “The next DS will need to have high resolution graphics and include a motion sensor, wouldn’t you say?”

And his response was…“Those are naturally considered requirements. However, do you believe it will sell with just this?”

Iwata on Wii HD…

“If asked if making the Wii compatible with high definition — just making it compatible with high resolution — will get players throughout the world to buy it, I would of course say, ‘Do you think it would sell with just that? Let’s put something new in it.”

Iwata on future hardware…

“If there were no rival makers in the world, I’d could give examples of the things that we are considering. However, for competitive reasons, I cannot give specifics today on the what or when of the things we’re considering.”

Famitsu is reporting that Dragon Quest VI has sold 909,981 units in its first week available on the Japanese market. As usual, that information is provided by Enterbrain. Dragon Quest VI has beaten first week sales of Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Quest V. Dragon Quest VI’s first week numbers are based on about four days of sales, so it looks like the title if off to a great start.
