The team behind Xenoblade has revealed a new title for Wii U. Monolith Soft is staying true to its RPG roots with what appears to be a new game tentatively called “X” for the console.

A first trailer was shown during today’s Nintendo Direct. We’ll have it here soon.


Two new Zelda games are in the works for Wii U. In addition to a brand new title, Nintendo is remaking The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on Wii U. According to Satoru Iwata, this is planned for release by the fall.

You’ll be able to play the game on the GamePad or on the TV. Miiverse support is planned.

For the new Zelda, Nintendo will be rethinking the conventions of the series.


Two huge franchises are coming together on Wii U. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed a collaboration during today’s Nintendo Direct: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem on Wii U.


Looking forward to the next Smash Bros.? Thankfully you won’t have to wait too much longer for a first look at the game. Development is on track, and Nintendo is planning to show the first game screens at this year’s E3.


Kirby’s Epic Yarn developer Good Feel is working on a brand new Yoshi title for Wii U. A brief look was provided during today’s Nintendo Direct.


Nintendo will be bringing two big guns to this year’s E3. During today’s Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata confirmed that Mario Kart Wii U and a new 3D Mario from EAD Tokyo are in the works. Both titles will be playable at the expo in June.


Satoru Iwata gave a brief update on Bayonetta 2 during today’s Nintendo Direct. According to the Nintendo president, development is “going well”. He was unfortunately unable to show a new trailer or actual footage, but the Nintendo Direct did give a behind the scenes look at Platinum Games’ work on the title.


Nintendo will be looking to improve Miiverse functionality going forward. The following updates are planned for the spring:

– Enable ability to create user communities
– More than one official communities per title
– Usability improvements
– Filtering function
– Browse Miiverse from smartphones beginning this spring
– Will have a special smartphone app in the future


The Wii U’s Virtual Console is just a few months away. Nintendo will launch the service this spring with a new Wii U system update.

NES and SNES titles will be available at the start. There will be special prices available to those who have purchased a Wii Virtual Console game and have transferred to Wii U:

Other notes about the Wii U VC:

– save a back-up of your game progress
– play off-TV on the GamePad
– Access a Miiverse community

A VC trial campaign begins today and will run up until July. Games will be available for 30 cents for these titles and will remain that way for 30 days. Balloon Fight is coming this month, followed by F-Zero in March.


New system updates are on the way to Wii U. Satoru Iwata announced during today’s Nintendo Direct that upgraded firmware will be introduced in the spring and summer. Along with improved loading times, new functionality will be provided.

Software will launch faster and the time it takes to return to the Wii U menu will be faster.
