Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is pretty long

“I can spend literally days just building up my criminal empire without touching a mission at all. But that aside, in classical terms, I think, for an average player, we’ve got around 20 to 30 hours of gameplay just to complete the story missions — that gets you through about 28 percent to 30 percent of the total game. The narcotics dealing takes up much more of your time, and we have more side missions, odd jobs, and one-off characters with their own mission strands to meet around this world than you’d ever expect. I’d say to get to 100 percent stats complete, you’d be looking at around 70 to 80 hours of play. This still doesn’t mean you’ve seen everything. You still have multiplayer and the entire online and Social Club content to dabble with.” – Gordon Hall, head of developer Rockstar Leeds
It looks as though Chinatown Wars won’t be a gimped GTA experience in the slightest. Rockstar Leeds is working hard on the game, and is packing it with tons of content.

SEGA most likely bringing World Destruction stateside
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 1 Comment
Similar to the situation with The Conduit, someone discovered a listing on SEGA’s FTP for Sands of Destruction. This almost guarantees that World Destruction, which is already available in Japan, will be releasing in North America, albeit with a name change. SEGA has yet to confirm anything at this point, but again, that was the case with The Conduit as well. The company will most likely confirm this news with a press release in the next few days.

Red Fly Studio’s Mushroom Men Sprouts onto Store Shelves Today
MIDLOTHIAN, VA – December 4, 2008 – SouthPeak Games announced today that Red Fly Studio’s fantastic fungal adventure, Mushroom Men, is now shipping two distinct tales, Rise of the Fungi for Nintendo DS™ and The Spore Wars for Wii™. Gamers will have the chance to experience the entire story of these tiny warriors through both titles; while each game is completely stand-alone and does not require one to play the other, both offer players the full spectrum of the mushroom universe.
“Wrapping up Mushroom Men has been one of the most satisfying endeavors this studio has ever seen,” says Dan Borth, CEO of Red Fly Studio. “From the very inception of this original IP, we’ve been working around the clock to make it one of the most spectacular third-party platformers for Wii, and we really think we’ve nailed it.”

Tecmo has “no plan” to localize Winds of Nostalgio

“Well, as far as if it’s going to be published in North America or not, right now we have no plan. We reviewed the game, and we decided that it was not the right game to bring to North America. We might change our mind…” – John Inadala, Tecmo’s U.S. VP
Last night, an XSEED representativ stated that Winds of Nostolgio would make it to North America. Tecmo won’t be localizing the title but perhaps XSEED or another third-party will pick it up.

Konami brings classic RPG series to Nintendo handheld for first time
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced an all-new Suikoden adventure for Nintendo DS. Entitled Suikoden Tierkreis, the sprawling role-playing epic will be released in March 2009.Suikoden Tierkreis casts the player as a member of a tightly knit security force in a remote setting called ‘Citro Village’. During an ongoing task to get rid of the land’s fearsome creatures, players uncover a mysterious phenomenon… a light emits something inexplicable at the top of the tower in the old ruins. From then on, the player and their comrades’ destiny begins to change…
The Nintendo DS title boasts a cast of 108 fully interactive characters. Each will work independently of the others, but can be recruited to make a four-person party, ideally suited to the tasks ahead. Each character enjoys a detailed history which is unfurled as the game progresses, with voice-overs and animated sequences fleshing out their many stories. From these, players than assemble their team to utilise the various skills on offer, while weapons such as swords and bows can be equipped and customised. Together, they are then pitted in turn-based battles against the many hostile creatures that lurk within Suikoden Tierkreis.
