Machinarium WiiWare port was nearly finished

Yesterday we learned that Amanita Design cancelled the WiiWare version of Machinarium. The game simply couldn’t be squeezed into the 40MB file size cap set by Nintendo.
Developer head Jakub Dvorský has elaborated on the situation behind the port. It was actually nearing completion before the team decided to scrap the project entirely. Again, this was mostly due to file size constraints.
Dvorský said:
“The port is practically finished, but after some discussions, we decided not to release it because it’s just not good. The resolution is crap, and we had to squeeze the whole game (which is around 360 MB in [the] original version) into [the] 40 MB WiiWare limit. The music sounds terrible, the background pictures are heavily compressed, and we had to throw out … some animations.”

We’ve got our hands on another batch of Zelda: Skyward Sword art. These images show a variety of elements, such as item upgrades. The art also provides a look at some of the more mysterious characters in the game.
