Capcom not commenting on Okamiden
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments
Yesterday, Siliconera found a trademark for Okamiden, something which seems like some sort of sequel to Okami. However, all that can really be done with the name is pretty much guesswork. Capcom isn’t being too helpful either, as you can see by the statement below.
“Nothing I can say here. Sorry.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development
On the bright side, there is something you can take away from Mr. Svensson’s words. If Okamiden was nothing more than a random trademark, I don’t understand why he would be shying away from commenting on it. Also, you may remember that Capcom teased a mind-blowing sequel a few weeks back. Could Okamiden be that game? Like I said earlier, all we can do is speculate at this point, but hopefully Okamiden will turn out to be something that will please fans if it turns out to be a new title.

Okamiden trademark provides a small glimmer of hope for an Okami sequel
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 6 Comments
Some of you here know about my ongoing love for Okami. I’ve been pretty vocal in the forums about how much the game impressed me. It does have its faults, but the title is just such an engrossing an charming adventure that I became hooked almost from the beginning.
So, of course I can’t help but hope that Okamiden, a new trademark discovered in the Japanese database, is some sort of new Okami title. Even though Capcom has never really expressed interest in a sequel in the past, the company does own the rights to the IP. Unfortunately, you can never be too sure how these trademark findings will turn out. I, however, would be incredibly happy to see Amaterasu in another Okami title.
Why Sonic drives a car in Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing

If there’s one thing that Sonic’s known for, it is his insane speed. However, it was decided that the character should drive a car in Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing. When it comes down to it, it does make sense that the blue hedgehog would be much too fast for the competition. Although, that’s just one of the reasons why Sonic drives a car in SEGA’s new racing title. Will Tarratt, Sumo Digital Senior Designer, provided a full explanation in a recent interview.
“The quick answer is that we did try it to start with. We knew that people would want to see that…However, he’s really quite different to all of the other vehicles and we wanted a bit of continuity…And it’s quite strange to control something quite small running around a track with cars. And then you get the problem of what happens when they hit each other. He can’t be run over by a monster truck. So what it came down is that it was more fun, it was a racing game, fundamentally everyone is in vehicles, stick Sonic in a car and it’s as much fun for the player so they don’t get confused or disoriented when they’re driving. And also, it wouldn’t be fair, the guy was way too fast when he was on his own…We’ve gone through a number of iterations…He should please with his speed in the speedster.”
