Just a few weeks ago, Nintendo released an update to the “Nintendo Channel” in Japan. However, since that time, the upgrade hasn’t been made available anywhere else. One would think that the Big N would be considering its release outside of Japan since there are some enjoyable features in the new version. But it looks like we’ll have to wait awhile to receive the update – that is, if it ever comes out anywhere else. We asked Nintendo about the update and a representative noted, “We don’t have anything to announce about its availability in other territories.”

– Princess Peach was considered as a fighter – “The thought of punching women out made me give up my idea.” – Kensue Tanabe
– Decided against including Mario even as a referee because of the “toon-shaded 3D atmosphere of the game”
– Next Level brought up the idea of thinking of the game’s graphical style
– Devs wanted to make Punch-Out!! difficult to master
– Was tough trying to find a proper way to include multiplayer
– Another Punch-Out!! game would have to be “fresh and new”
– “We are not planning a sequel where simply the fighters are replaced. If we get so many requests for Little Mac and other fighters to come back, we will make another game in a totally new, different way. But of course, Doc Louis must also be there!” – Kensue Tanabe
