Hamburg/Germany, July 8th, 2009 – Summer Athletics 2009’s Wii™ version will support Wii Balance Board™ controls. The game is equipped with a unique Balance Board Cup.

Console athletes will need their stability on the Wii Balance Board to control their character in the contest’s five disciplines. These are high jump, triple jump, hammer throwing, high dive and archery. Players wiggle their hips around to spin the hammer and gather speed. Holding your breath and standing evenly balanced is key to hitting the mark in archery. If you center your weight right in the middle of the Wii Balance Board, you have only to adjust to cross winds to score full points.

Like all contests and challenges in Summer Athletics 2009, the Balance Board cup is available in three difficulty settings. “Easy” is recommended for players who have never played a sports game before, “Average” appeals to more experienced players and “Difficult” requires the skills of advanced players. It is possible to obtain a fourth difficulty setting called “Champion” after unlocking special achievements. “Champion” features the hardest AI competitors that will challenge even gaming veterans.

Previous outings of Pro Evolution Soccer on the Wii have disappointed fans, not because the games are bad, but rather because they tend to release quite a while after their PS3 and 360 counterparts. Thankfully, the up and coming “PES 2010” looks to be releasing much closer to its brethren, slated to come out this fall.

“Our control system for Wii is still regarded as the finest and most intuitive around, and we have once again reworked it to add a level of control and realism that can appeal to new and old PES fans alike.” – Akiyoshi ‘Greyhound’ Chosogabe

– All-new game balance system.
– The player in possession of ball has ‘instantaneous stamina’ and overall stamina.

– The main characters are a male lead named Shinichi Suzutani and a female lead named Rin Kagura.
– These characters visit a website called “The Black Page” that can banish you to a life, keeping you from heaven and hell
– The two main characters fall into that trap via the website, and you have to get them back to the real world.
– Pointing with Wiimote moves your character in first person view.
– Your cell phone lets you get calls from ghosts, which will give you tips.
– Call other cell phones to warp around the game world
– You can take pictures with your cell phone to send them to friends

In the 45th issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine, creative director of Red Steel 2 Jason Vandenberghe spoke about his latest project. In the interview, Vandenberghe made some audacious statements, including a claim that the game is “one of the best looking games on the Wii.”

“We’ve come a long way in terms of getting the core gameplay working. The first person brawler stuff, that’s really working for me. It’s awesome. We’ve got a lot of polish on the visuals and cool lighting. It’s one of the best looking games on the Wii. The game is so much fun with the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. I hope it gives gamers something really cool to do with their Wii. It’s a really cool game for core gamers.”

This information comes from the latest Nintendo Power

“…And I want him to be a huge star, so that’s why I’m working very hard to make this game as interesting as possible. Maybe in the future, we can see him fighting alongside Link in the next Smash Bros. [Laughs] That would be great.”

Travis came around way to late to fit into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But I could definitely picture him in the next Smash Bros. game. How many of you would be interested in seeing that?

This information comes from the latest Nintendo Power…

“I like a lot of my other characters, too, but Travis is my favorite. He has a special place in my heart. He’s a good friend of mine and I really wanted to work with him again. I will stay with him until he dies…”

I know Travis has gained a lot of supporters through the first No More Heroes game. He’s definitely not your typical video game character. I was glad when Desperate Struggle was revealed and I hope Suda51 continue to create games with Travis!
