Even though 2009 is already shaping up to be an impressive year as far as the Wii goes, gamers might be able to look forward to more than originally expected. Hidden within a recent IGN article is a brief mention of Konami and EA. It is explained that both companies have IPs for the Wii that fans will be ecstatic about when they are announced.

“Wii owners can look forward to some exciting announcements from third-parties like Electronic Arts, Konami and Ubisoft. We know of at least two major EA and Konami IPs that Wii fans are going to flip over when they become official…”

From Konami, perhaps the Wii will see the release of another Castlevania game. Anyone out there have a guess for either company?

November NPD numbers revealed that, yet again, Wii Play was in the top 10 software sales. The title has consistently placed in the top 10, and so far has sold 7.9 units in total. 15.4 million Wii units have been sold since the system released in 2006. With that in mind, a startling fact is also known about Wii Play – About half of Wii owners have bought the game. Picking up an extra Wii controller with Wii Play is obviously the main purchase incentive here. Standalone controls cost $40, so by adding just $10 to that total, the consumer can pick up a copy of Wii Play along with a Wiimote.
