Cross-Platform Development Just Got Easier for Licensed Wii Developers
SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS, France – April 6, 2010 – Stonetrip, a leading 3D engine company for games and 3D applications, today announced that it has received certification from Nintendo to offer its cross-platform 3D development engine, ShiVa 3D, to licensed Wii developers. The ShiVa 3D engine already supports Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Wii, and browser-based applications under a single license, and has been used in thousands of applications and hundreds of games released to date.
“The Wii is a very appealing platform for game developers, offering the largest install base of the next-generation platforms, and the technological capabilities to support games that appeal to the mass market,” said Philip Belhassen, CEO of Stonetrip. “By adding support for Wii, we are expanding the cross-platform opportunities available to developers using the ShiVa 3D engine. We will continue to develop and add tools and technology that make the development process easier, so game developers can unleash their creativity without having to focus as much on the technological aspects of making games.”
Capcom: Unannounced games for Wii/DS, no Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Wii, more
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News, Wii | 6 Comments
The following information comes from the Capcom-Unity message boards…
Capcom’s Christian Svensson on future Wii/DS titles…
“We do have more Wii and DS titles in development that are not yet announced. Stay tuned.”
Svensson on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars sales figures,
“Without giving numbers. TvC I’m pleased with. MvC2 I’m extremely happy with. Beyond that, nothing to talk about right now. We don’t have Wii rights from Marvel but all the same I had toyed with that idea. Unfortunately, the economics don’t work. We’d have to sell it at a significantly higher price at retail on Wii. Break even on the expected costs and lower margins are higher than the volume I’d reasonably expect to sell.”
Svensson on PS2 to Wii ports…
“Sorry, there’s no current plans for any PS2 to Wii ports.”
Capcom’s Seth Killian on bringing Super Street Fighter IV/Street Fighter IV to Wii…
“Sorry guys, no plans for SFIV or SSFIV on the Wii right now.”
Suda51 reconfirms Grasshopper’s commitment to No More Heroes 3

“…With No More Heroes 1, the idea came when I was literally sitting on the toilet. It was the result of trying to empty my bowels, if you like. With No More Heroes 2, I tried to get rid of whatever was left in my bowels, and luckily it happened. What we are hoping to do now with No More Heroes 3 is probably to digest everything we eat, and then purge absolutely everything in our guts, just like diarrhea.” – Suda51
Suda51 has stated numerous times that he would like to create another No More Heroes title. However, it will probably star a character other than Travis. Suda51 has also mentioned that he would like to develop the new title for the Wii’s successor. But since it doesn’t seem like Nintendo will be launching a new console anytime soon, perhaps Grasshopper will make No More Heroes 3 for Wii.

“Discipline is freaky, really mind-bending stuff. I don’t think the US market is ready for it.” – Ken from XSEED Games
In other news, XSEED will not be localizing Kimino Yusha. The game was released in 2008 for DS in Japan and was published by SNK.
Ubisoft on the success of Just Dance

“We are very happy that Just Dance has topped the All Formats Chart once again. We have just sold through over 2 million units worldwide so it’s clearly a title that is really resonating with so many Wii owners. We went back on TV over Easter weekend with a Nintendo bundle ad – HMV are offering Just Dance free if you buy a Nintendo Wii. We hope the love that is clearly out there for Just Dance continues and that everyone just keeps dancing!” – Just Dance brand manager Rachael Grant
It’s amazing how well Just Dance has sold. The game received some awful reviews, yet it has managed to top the charts in the UK and exceed expectations in North America. It’s a shame that Red Steel 2 probably won’t match half of Just Dance’s sales…

– Sakaguchi said something like “How about stopping with the Final Fantasy rehashes? on Twitter to Final Fantasy Gaiden director
– Also said “I think you’ll feel this once you’ve tried it. LS is not a rehash.”
– Sakaguchi won’t say who is composing the game yet
– One person doing the whole soundtrack
– Part of Sakaguchi’s Mistwalker blog update: “The weather doesn’t clear up, but my heart is clearing up. This is because I shut myself up with the development team every day and am able to feel The Last Story being born. It’s finally off from the creator’s hands and has begun to move on its own — like always. It’s like a living creature. It breaths on its own, it speaks on its own. It’s fascinating, even though its spirit is digital data.”
