The Conduit 2 confirmed for Wii

There have been plenty of hints that High Voltage Software is working on a sequel to The Conduit. Today, though, the game finally been confirmed. Nintendo Power has announced that a new title in the series is in development. We’ll update this post with additional details as they come in.
– Set in Atlantis
– Other locations include Siberia, Agartha, Washington D.C.
– Team is focusing on art/story
– New gameplay types for online
– Bounty Hunter mode returning
– Different character classes, each has unique attributes
– Can unlock suit upgrades (ex: robotic legs that let you sprint farther)
– WiiSpeak support
– High Voltage, for now, has decided “to have one primary suit slot and two secondary slots where you can equip upgrades, but that may change in the final game.”
– Will be able to change character’s appearance
– 2-4 player splitscreen option for all competitive
– Co-op Invasion mode: Up to 4 players (online or local), has unique challenges
– New weapons: Vortex Cannon and Phase Rifle
– Vortex Cannon: Sends bullets back at enemies with a more powerful force
– Phase Rifle: Shoot through walls
– Old weapons will be returning
– Some old weapons are seeing a facelift

A critical element of any JRPG is story. As one plays the game, one gradually gets to know the heroes of Arc Rise Fantasia and how their lives are shaped by each other and the challenges they face. As the mercenary L’Arc, players embark on a journey to defend the Meridian Empire from invasion. Apprehensive towards his chosen path, L’Arc faces a life altering decision. As the plot thickens, relationships become complex — hinting at unforeseen consequences with unlikely friends and treacherous foes.

Miyamoto on whether his surroundings contribute to his work…
“Whatever I do in terms of making video games is always influenced through my own experiences. Anything which takes place in front of me or surrounding me has some influence in my way of making games in one way or the other.
It’s true that in the past, at the beginning of making my own games, I used to take inspiration from my childhood memories. But quite recently things that have taken place near me or information I can get to on a day-to-day basis has given me some inspiration…As far as Mario Galaxy 2 is concerned, I can’t think of one particular memory or experience that has contributed as inspiration to what I incorporated into the design.
However, the way I have been involved in Mario Galaxy 2 is that I have been working with much younger creators, artists and designers. When they propose an idea to me – some character or stage construction, or storyline – sometimes I feel it’s something strange that should not be incorporated into any Mario game, or sometimes I find them really good.

Wario™ may be known as a troublemaker, but this week he deserves a friendly high-five for helping to deliver a mother lode of downloadable fun for Wii™ owners. The new WarioWare™: D.I.Y. Showcase game for the WiiWare™ service lets users with broadband Internet access download all kinds of outrageous content, from music and microgames to four-panel digital comics – some created by users themselves.
